Ultimate X: The Movie is a movie that everyone can enjoy together.This is something not usually seen in movies of this type, so it makes it an unusual, yet pleasant experience.The movie is absolutely stunning and Tony Hawk deliver some award winning performances in this movie. I also think Bob Burnquist was great!

You could chug a 12-pack of Mountain Dew and it still might not equal the caffeinated rush of this breakneck 40-minute IMAX film that should lose little of its visceral jolt on the smaller screen. This is the real fast and the furious, as worshipped Generation X superstars such as Carey Hart, Tony Hawk, Bucky Lasek, Dave Mirra, and Travis Pastrana careen down city streets or hurtle off ramps on skateboards, street luges, and motocross bikes. Filmed at the 2001 X-Games in Philadelphia, Ultimate X comes complete with a revved-up rock soundtrack, more slow-mo shots than a John Woo film, and pound-back-the-Dramamine POV action. The gravity-defying stunts are not for the faint of heart, which may explain why these fearless athletes have been so wildly embraced by a new generation of thrill-crazed sports fans. This is best appreciated as a ""docu-mercial"" for the X-Games (in its seventh year in 2002) rather than a thoughtful analysis of the zeitgeist (for that, check out the documentary Dogtown and Z-Boys), but one picture of former BMX Gold Medalist Mirra performing his signature backflip is worth a thousand words. --Donald Liebenson

In The Postman Always Rings Twice Jack Nicholson teamed up again with his Five Easy Pieces and King of Marvin Gardens director Bob Rafelson for this 1981 version of James M. Cain's hardboiled novel of lust and murder. This version takes a much grittier (and sexually explicit) approach to the material than the slick 1946 MGM version starring John Garfield and Lana Turner. Nicholson plays Frank Chambers, a drifter who happens upon a roadside diner run by Cora Papadakis (Jessica Lange) and her swarthy Greek husband, Nick (John Colicos). Sparks fly, and before you can say l'amour fou, Frank and Cora are making the beast with two backs on the kitchen table. One thing leads to another and they conspire to murder Nick. The movie is still a little too cold and distant to fully convey a hot-blooded passion that leads to murder, but it is a strangely haunting and disturbing film nevertheless. The screenplay is by David Mamet, the photography is by the great Sven Nykvist (Ingmar Bergman's cinematographer), and watch for Anjelica Huston in a supporting role. --Jim Emerson

Wow! I really loved the movie Avanti!. The movie is absolutely stunning with top-notch graphics and visuals while Janet Agren deliver some award-winning performances in this movie.

I also think Edward Andrews was great! The visuals and graphics make for some very realistic on screen special-effects but that is the beauty of the movie.When the movie wants to be funny it is funny, the same is true for when the movie needs to deliver its scary aspects.

I think Janet Agren and Edward Andrews worked wonderful in Avanti!. The great supporting cast includes Janet Agren, Edward Andrews, Francesco Angrisano, Gianfranco Barra, Giselda Castrini.

You should see it, make no mistake this is a definite blockbuster!

Summary of Avanti!:

The complete obscurity of Avanti! is a cinematic injustice that needs to be rectified. Jack Lemmon and director Billy Wilder made their share of hits together (Some Like It Hot and The Apartment, for starters), but this wry, melancholy comedy was completely out of touch with its time (which recalls a Wilder one-liner from the '70s: "Who the hell would want to be in touch with these times?"). It may have flopped badly in 1972, but it wears well in retrospect. Lemmon plays a jerk American businessman called to Italy to pick up the body of his father, who died while enjoying a secret (and, it turns out, annual) liaison with a mistress. With the help of a delightful Englishwoman (Juliet Mills) who happens to be the daughter of the "other woman," Lemmon finds himself stepping in a few of Dad's footsteps, and falling under the sway of the beguiling Italian atmosphere. A very leisurely movie, but that's part of its effect. Clive Revill delivers a gem of a performance as a heroic hotel manager, and Juliet Mills (sister of Hayley, daughter of Oscar-winner John) had her finest screen hour here. As a director, Wilder spent much of his early career camouflaging his romantic streak under a cynical front; here, despite many acerbic touches and the presence of death as the central plot device, the romance is in full flower under the rich Italian sun. --Robert Horton
